Swimming

What a perfect afternoon to have a swim, the students had been so hot and sticky all day! What a lucky bunch to end the day with a refreshing swim.

Today I had the class split up and had one group working on swim strokes and diving for objects. The other group worked on water confidence, diving under the water, and water relays with objects (noodles, water floaties etc).

The students tried so hard, and worked so well, they had some free time to splash and have fun too. We are experimenting with ways to quickly get changed (as our pool time doesn't finish until 2.30) so the students are ready to home asap.

Thank you to Josh's Mum for helping us swim on Mondays, such a great help.

This Thursday is our last Swimgym coach session, then it is just myself teaching both Monday and Thursday sessions. We are very lucky to have these opportunities to swim, and the students look forward to them ALL day!

Mrs McGregor

Caterpillars

Ben brought in some gorgeous caterpillars and eggs to share with us. Thanks Ben and whānau. Sophie and Katie also found a monarch butterfly that had died. They showed Room 14, and the students were able to make observations of how it looked different to live butterflies. They said that "the colours have faded", "the wings have gone hard and cracking" and "there are tears in the wings".

First Swimming Lesson of 2017

The students did so well, changed clothes quickly and were very respectful to our swimming instructor, Lisa. A few students got a bit cold but most didn't mind. Looking forward to Monday!

Welcome to Room 14, 2017

Tēnā koutou whānau,

It has been a pleasure getting to know your children over the past few days. I'm really looking forward to our year together.

Please comment on any blog posts if you can! We can read them as a class, and it is great to know if parents are looking at our blog.

Ngā mihi nui,

Mrs Melissa McGregor
