Room 14

Bug Hotel!

Yesterday Room 14 made a bug hotel for Learning Pathways. Lily's Dad made us three lovely frames which Mr Law nailed up on the Kaiawa Gardens fence for us. The students foraged for great  bits for the habitat, drawing on their learning about critters this term. There was lots of great conversations about what to use, why to or not to, negotiating and problem solving.

Thank you to Mr Brook for our beautiful frames, and Thomas, Lachlan and Ben for going the extra mile and bringing in great resources and constructing your own bug hotel at home. Well done boys, great to see you taking the initiative with this learning and class project. Thomas made the class a gorgeous hanging mobile bug hotel which joined our three frames.

Check it out if you get a chance!

They did incredibly well and looked fabulous with their full costumes and face paint done. Well done girls, you should be really proud of your excellent dancing!

Poetry Recital

Room 14 students did so well performing their poems in class. Lily and Thomas were chosen by their peers to represent our class at the Koru poetry recital.

Well done Lily (I Don't Want to Go into School Today) and Thomas (Dinosaurs) who did an incredible job in the recital! Also, Lola and Ethan did an amazing job as MC's for the whole recital, without even a practice! Great job Room 14.

Book Week!

Geronimo Stilton!

Party Planning - Statistics

Room 14 went through a party planning process over two weeks - gathering data and information for their statistics learning. They asked questions such as favourite types of Fruitburst lollies, how many chips do you get in each mini bag and what is your favourite balloon colour and shape? They then explored ways of collecting information, and displaying it in graphs.

Superstars at Spelling!

I love seeing the hard work students put in to spelling new, exciting words in their writing. Great job Ethan on your dinosaur 'Secret Writing' today!

Howick Pakuranga Dance Festival 2017!

Beachlands School has a great group of Year 2/3 girls in the school dance festival group, who have been practicing so hard on their Enchanted Forest / Zootopia routine for this year's Howick Pakuranga Schools Dance Festival. From Room 14, we have Hannah, Lily, Lola, Abby, Annabel, Eva and Yasmin representing us. They were wolves, foxes, bunnies, mice and bears. They performed last night at Elim College and put on a wonderful show. Our new principal, Mr Noble-Campbell, came and watched (that's his thumbs up you can see), as well as our assistant principal, Miss Dinnissen. Thank you so much for coming and supporting us! Well done girls, Mrs Smith (Room 3) and I are so proud of your hard work and dedication.

Cross Country 2017

The students all tried so hard today, and really did their best!

Congratulations especially to Abby C (first, 8 year old girls), Zane A-S (second, 6 year old boys), and Annabel C (third, 8 year old girls)! You should be really proud of yourselves.

Discovery Time

Painting as a group - everyone must participate at the same time, have their fingers on the paper at the same time, to make one group picture. How will we work as a group, sharing resources, agreeing on a direction, respecting others' ideas, and making space for each other?

Number Agents

We have started 'Number Agents' - linking in with our Fairytales study and rich experiences for math. The students all have agent badges, and when they hear the siren, they 'check in' to hear what their new task is.

Discovery Time

Discovery Time this week was around exploring magnets - what attracts, repels; what are your wonderings?
